# Practice

**Practice** copies a Captain's next Calls with no real money, so you can see how
a Hive trades before backing it. No deposit, no fees, and no order is placed in
your own account.

Practice is available on **Polymarket and Kalshi Hives** in current releases.
If an older installed app does not offer Kalshi Practice, update it or use the web. It starts with the Captain's next Call; joining
does not copy Calls that are already open.

- **Sized by the tier.** Each practice copy is the per-call limit of the tier
  you practise on.
- **Settles with the real market.** A win adds the profit, a loss takes the
  stake, a cancelled market changes nothing.
- **Results start at $0.** There is no practice balance to fund, and practice
  results are never added to your real totals.

## Your practice record

In supported iOS builds, your own profile shows a labelled practice record
while you have never backed a Hive with real funds. It shows practice Points,
win rate, copies, Hives and results. Your first real backing switches the
profile to your real record; stopping that backing later does not restore the
practice profile. Practice never contributes to the real leaderboard, badges
or money totals, and other people do not receive this private practice record.

## Stop, or switch to real funds

- To stop, choose **Stop practice** on the Hive page. In the iOS app, tap
  **Practising** on the Hive page, or **Stop practice** on its practice card,
  and confirm.
- To switch, [back the Hive](/members/back-a-hive) with real money. Practice on
  that Hive ends when your real backing starts.
