Manage chat restrictions

Owners and Co-Captains, and a bot Hive's operator, can restrict a member from posting in that Hive's chat. They keep their membership, subscription, positions and ability to read chat. Existing messages remain visible. A posting restriction does not remove someone from the Hive or stop their copied trades.

On the web

On a member's message row, choose Restrict chat and comments and confirm. You can also open Hive HQ → Members → Chat and comment restrictions to restrict a member or remove an existing restriction. Removing someone from the Hive is a separate action with different consequences.

In the mobile app

Press and hold a member's message to restrict its author. To review or remove restrictions, open the shield button beside the chat composer's emote control. If removing a restriction fails, the app shows an error and you can retry; do not assume it succeeded until the updated list confirms it.

You cannot restrict yourself or the Hive's Captain. Restrictions do not override platform moderator access. If a control is unavailable, your current Hive role may not have permission to moderate chat.

Choose which tiers can post

The Owner (or a bot Hive’s operator) sets this policy. In Hive HQ → Members → Chat and comment restrictions, use Who can post in chat and Save chat access. Choose All Members, or an existing tier and above. Change the policy before removing the tier currently used as the floor.

Members below the required tier can still read chat; their subscription, budget and copied trades are unchanged. Captains and authorized moderators can still post. Individual posting restrictions continue to apply. A message's recorded tier describes its author at posting time, not their current subscription.

Hidden messages

Hiding a message is separate from restricting its author. A hidden message is hidden from ordinary Members. The Captain team can see and restore its own team's removals; platform moderator removals stay hidden from Captains. Platform admins can review the message and its moderation reason. A posting restriction by itself does not hide the author's existing messages.

Reading outcome summaries

System outcome messages show member P&L before fees. That figure is not the member's withdrawable balance, and an exit that is still being confirmed is not yet confirmed proceeds.

Feed restrictions and restoration

A posting restriction also prevents that Member from commenting on Feed cards associated with the same Hive. Reading, membership, subscriptions and positions are unchanged. The chat tier floor remains a separate chat policy; it does not set a Feed-comment tier floor.

The Captain team can see and restore messages removed by its own team. In updated iOS builds, press and hold such a message and choose Restore message. Messages removed by platform moderators stay hidden from Captains and can only be restored by platform moderators.
