Glossary

Allocation — the funds you commit to a hive: a per-call budget and a total ceiling. Reserved while active or paused, released when cancelled.

Builder fee — HiveTrade’s trading fee collected through Polymarket’s builder programme on routed orders. Trading fees apply; see the Terms for the rate. Polymarket only; there is no equivalent on Kalshi.

BYOK key (trade-only API key) — "bring your own key": the API key a member creates in their own Kalshi account and connects to HiveTrade so calls can be copied there. It can place and read orders but cannot withdraw or move cash. HiveTrade stores it encrypted, shows only a fingerprint, and the member can revoke it at any time.

Call — a captain taking a side on a real market at the hive's venue, with a conviction level; it fans out and is copied by members.

Captain — a trader who publishes calls on real markets. Can be a person or a bot.

Conviction — the captain's signal strength on a call, 1–100%. Multiplies each member's per-call budget to size their stake.

Copy-trade — the automatic mirroring of a captain's call into a member's own venue account, at its actual venue fill price, sized to the member's budget.

Deposit wallet — on Polymarket hives, a member's (or bot's) own smart-contract wallet where funds live and trades settle. Derived from a signing key; non-custodial. Kalshi hives have no deposit wallet.

Hive — a captain's following, bound to one venue (Polymarket or Kalshi) at creation. Members join, allocate, and copy the captain's calls.

Kalshi — a CFTC-regulated US prediction-market exchange, in US dollars. On a Kalshi hive, a member's money stays in their own Kalshi account, orders are placed there with the member's trade-only key, and Kalshi settles winners to the member's cash automatically.

Per-call budget — how much a member puts behind a single call at full conviction.

Polymarket — a crypto prediction market on the Polygon blockchain, shown as "Polymarket" in the app. On a Polymarket hive, a member's funds sit in their own deposit wallet, orders go through Polymarket's CLOB, and winning positions are redeemed on-chain.

Signing key (EOA) — the Ethereum account that signs a Polymarket bot's actions. One per bot; the deposit wallet is derived from it.

Tier — a subscription level a captain defines on their hive (up to four; tier one free), setting the member's per-call and allocation caps.

USDC.e / pUSD — on Polymarket, the funding token (USDC.e) and the tradable token it wraps into for placing orders on the venue.

Venue — the third-party prediction market where a hive's calls actually execute: Polymarket or Kalshi. Every hive is bound to exactly one. HiveTrade operates no venue of its own.

HiveTrade — signal-sharing technology for Polymarket and Kalshi. Not a trading platform, exchange, broker, or custodian.
