Account & privacy
Your money stays in your own account
HiveTrade never holds your money. Each Hive trades on one venue, and your money stays in your own account there:
- Polymarket: your own Polymarket account. HiveTrade can place orders for your copies, but it is not authorized to withdraw: every withdrawal needs your own signature.
- Kalshi: your own Kalshi account, connected with an API key you create in Kalshi. It can place orders and move cash between your own Kalshi balances to fund a copy, but it cannot withdraw, and you can disconnect it at any time.
See Your money & wallet, and Withdrawing for the steps on each venue.
Signing up
You sign in with your email or Google, then confirm two boxes:
- Required: you agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy, confirm you are 18 or older, allow HiveTrade to place orders for your copies (never withdrawals), and accept that you can lose your entire deposit and that HiveTrade gives no investment advice.
- Optional: product updates, tips and reminders by email. Unticked by default; turn it off any time in Settings or from any of those emails.
If account setup asks you to sign in again, use the same email and sign-in method as your existing HiveTrade account. This reconnects the signing session for that account. To use another account, choose Switch account when available, or sign out first.
When we ask you to sign in again
Confirm it's you is asked before a web withdrawal, key export or account deletion, and before deletion in supported iOS builds. If you have not signed in on that device in the last day, sign in again using your usual method. A successful confirmation lasts up to a day on that device.
Routine viewing does not require this extra confirmation. Supported iOS builds can restore a dropped session using the same active account, but may still need you to sign in if restoration is unavailable. Silent restoration does not count as a fresh sign-in for sensitive actions.
Profile visibility and dollar amounts
Open Settings → Privacy on the web. Hide me on leaderboards is off by default: your name and picture appear on leaderboards and in Hive Member lists. Turn it on to appear as Anonymous, with a shared bee picture and no profile link. Your rank and performance remain visible. Other people opening your profile see only your name and join date; your own view stays complete. This setting does not hide your identity as a Captain of a Hive.
A public profile shows activity from publicly listed Hives: your return, win rate, copies, backing and settled results. Private or otherwise unlisted Hives are excluded from other viewers' profile activity and totals.
Your budgets, per-call size, open stake and each copy's dollar result are private. You can see your own figures, and authorized HiveTrade admins can see them for administration. A Hive’s Captains see Hive totals and each Member’s return percentage, not that Member’s budget or dollar result. Your remaining Hive budget is shown only to you. Your subscription tier is shown to you, that Hive's Captains and authorized HiveTrade admins. There is no setting that makes these individual dollar amounts public. Hive totals can still be public, including the total allocated and total won; if only one Member contributes, that total can reflect that Member alone.
Public Member performance uses return percentages, Points, counts and win rates, without individual P&L dollar totals. Points add each copied Call’s return percentage: a copy up 25% adds 25 points and one down 40% subtracts 40. Open copies count at their current price. Points are not money or a withdrawable reward. The Members leaderboard opens on Points; check the selected sort and time window when comparing records.
In supported iOS builds, My Hives → Profile → Settings also has Show my market positions, off by default. Turning it on lets other members see the markets and sides you hold directly at Polymarket or Kalshi, without amounts. Turning it off stops that sharing. Copies through public Hives can still appear without amounts; hiding yourself on leaderboards also hides you from the market's Member list.
Your name, handle and picture
Edit your profile in web Settings or Edit profile in supported iOS builds. Your handle is your public profile address. A chosen handle uses 3–20 lowercase letters, numbers or underscores, starts with a letter, and cannot end in an underscore or a number preceded by an underscore. Consecutive underscores and reserved names are not accepted. You can choose a new handle once a day; older profile links with a numeric account suffix still work.
The bee picker lets you try another bee and save the one you want. The picture is yours once saved; previewing a bee does not reserve it. In supported builds, Previous bee lets you return to one of your last three previews.
In the iOS app
In current iOS builds, open My Hives, choose your profile picture in the account selector, then tap the Settings gear. These settings were under My Hives → Account in earlier builds; the tab itself was called Portfolio in older builds. Your profile brings together Posts, Wins, badges, Hives you captain and Hives you back. Account balances remain on the exchange pages beside the profile.
Appearance. In My Hives → Profile → Settings → Appearance, choose Light, Dark or System. System follows your device's appearance. Your selection is saved on the device.
Calls and backing. Choose an exchange account in My Hives to see its Hives above the All / Live / Settling / Resolved Call tabs. Tap Edit backing on a Hive card to manage your budget. Settling means you still hold a position on a market that has closed or resolved; Resolved contains your completed results, including sales. Your budget also appears below the chart on its Hive page when you are signed in. A position card opens the venue's market page when a venue link is available; cards without one have no market link. Kalshi cards can open their market page when the market and series information is available.
If you run a Kalshi bot, its trades in your own Kalshi account also appear here, labelled Bot trade. They are separate from Hives you back. If bot holdings cannot be refreshed, the app marks the account value unavailable instead of treating those holdings as zero.
Multiple accounts. When enabled in your iOS build, My Hives → Profile → Settings → Switch account shows accounts signed in on this device. Choose one, or Add account to sign in to another. You view one account at a time. Signing out of the current account does not sign out the others saved on the device.
These guides. In builds with the link, My Hives → Profile → Settings → Docs opens this site.
Product analytics. In builds with analytics, open My Hives → Profile → Settings → Privacy choices to accept or decline product analytics. Collection starts only after you accept. The choice belongs to this app installation; reinstalling asks again. This is separate from optional marketing emails.
Portfolio values and cash
An open position's displayed value is an estimate from available market quotes, not cash available to withdraw or a guaranteed sale price. In builds with the updated Kalshi valuation, ordinary and operated bot positions use the same held-side bid value, before estimated exit fees. Keep the account's cash figure separate from its open-position value when deciding what is available.
Reporting and personal blocking
In iOS builds with these controls, press and hold an eligible chat message to choose Report message or Block its author. A report asks moderators to review the content; it is not an immediate removal. Manage personal blocks in My Hives → Profile → Settings → Blocked users.
Personal blocking hides that author's chat messages, authored pinned message and Feed comments from your view. It does not change what other people see, end your backing, or hide every kind of Feed card. Captain-message cards and aggregate comment counts can still appear. A personal block is separate from a Captain's posting restriction.
Take a break
On the web, open Settings → Self-exclusion and choose Take a trading break. The risk notice in the site footer links there too. Pick 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or Indefinite, then confirm.
- Every active Hive budget pauses at once, and new deposits, budgets and copy-trades are blocked.
- You can still stop backing Hives, close positions, let results settle and withdraw.
- A break can't be ended before its period is over. An indefinite break lasts at least seven days.
- No break ends by itself. Once the period is over, choose End trading break. Budgets paused by the break stay paused until you resume each one.
Delete your account
On the web, open Settings → Delete account. In iOS builds with account deletion, use My Hives → Profile → Settings → Delete account; older builds can use the web.
Stop backing every Hive (paused ones included) and archive any bot you operate first. Then withdraw your remaining funds, or use the web's signing-key export and explicit external-custody confirmation if you intend to manage remaining value yourself. The app explains any remaining requirement; an error means deletion has not completed. The native flow offers Finish on the web when key export is needed.
Deletion anonymizes your public profile and signs you out. It keeps the records needed for accounting and a recovery-only identity link: the same login can still close positions and withdraw, but cannot deposit, back Hives or trade again. It does not delete your account at the venue.
